During the past few days while I was home in Tennessee, and working out of the district, I had the privilege of interacting with many constituents who play different roles in our area. From speaking at a symposium for law students at Lincoln Memorial University, to visiting with community leaders, to presenting an American flag that was flown over the U.S. Capitol to elementary school students at Northshore Elementary School, I have been honored to participate in so many local events. I was even able to welcome over 1,000 young constituents representing every single middle school in our district at an annual Teens for Christ event hosted by Pastor Clarence Sexton. Temple Baptist Church helped students to start their own extracurricular club in 1990 that focused on reading the Bible, and learning leadership skills. Now their outreach has stretched even beyond our district boarders. I was honored to be in the presence of so many bright young people who are learning how to be leaders for our community while growing their faith.
